Dyson V11 Animal Cordless Vacuum: Everything in the Box

I’ve enjoyed using the Dyson V6 Animal Cordless Vacuum for years, but the Dyson V11 Animal Cordless Vacuum is even better. The vacuum comes with two powered cleaning heads with rotating brushes (a large one for the floor and a smaller one for seats/couches, etc.), two attachments with brushes, one crevice tool attachment, a wall mount charging bracket, charging brick, and manual/warranty information. Assembled, the vacuum is slightly longer and heavier than my V6, though the V11 is quieter and has a lot more useful features.

The V11 is “smart” in that it comes with three modes of operation. “Auto” mode is best for normal operation as the vacuum can sense changes in the surface you are cleaning and adjusts the power level accordingly. For example, the vacuum will use a higher power setting when on carpet, but switches to a gentler power setting automatically when it senses you have moved onto hardwood floors. This automatic change in power levels helps extend the battery life, in addition to making cleaning with the vacuum easier. “Eco” mode is meant to maximize the run time so you can use the vacuum even longer, and “Boost” mode is for when you need extra power for cleaning difficult areas. The large cleaning head also has three cleaning settings to adjust the amount of suction.

Dyson V11 Animal Cordless Vacuum: An Empty Dirt Bin

To empty the vacuum you remove the handle grip from the rest of the vacuum and press a lever while holding the vacuum over a trash can–this shoots all the debris into the trash can. Compared to the V6, I was surprised the first time I tried this on the V11 because the dirt was ejected from the vacuum, whereas on the V6 I often had to shake and rake the dirt to get it from the dirt bin.

Compared to the V6 I get almost twice the run time with the V11, due to a longer-lasting battery and the smart power level controls. So overall, this is a much better vacuum than the V6–longer run time, quieter, stronger suction power, an improved dirt bin emptying mechanism, a higher torque cleaning head, and smart power level controls. And because the vacuum is cord-free, I can use it anywhere.
