Ernie Ball Prodigy Mini Guitar Pick: Mini Size Comparison

If you’ve never played a mini-sized guitar pick, you should give the Ernie Ball Prodigy Mini Guitar Pick a try. In the photo you can see they are not much bigger than a US dime. This small size makes the pick seem really fast, so these small picks are great for soloing on electric guitars. They aren’t my favorite for acoustic guitars, but they really shine for riffs on electrics.

These are great playing picks that come in a six pack and are fairly priced. Though they also make 2.0mm thick pics, I got the 1.5mm pics, and they felt solid and precise.

The pics have a matte surface made of Delrin, which is a high performance thermoplastic that resists wear and provides a solid non-slip grip. Moreover, right out of the bag they play great, especially because of their beveled edges–I didn’t really have much of a break-in period with them.

In fact, because of their beveled edges and sharp point, I felt like I was more accurate in my playing. Another factor that helped my impression of accuracy was also the size–these are “mini” picks, and as the name suggests they are much smaller than standard picks.

All in all I’m very happy with these picks. They might take some getting used to if you’ve never played a mini pick before, but for certain types of playing you may never go back. I especially love the beveled edges and sharp point for precise playing, and the small size that is easy to grip. I think they are worth you giving them a try.

Well done Ernie Ball!
