AcuRite Temperature and Humidity Monitoring System: What Comes in the Box

Worried that your HVAC might stop working while you are on travel? Interested in micro-climate temperature and humidity readings and forecasts to inform how you plan your day? The AcuRite 01006M Temperature and Humidity Monitoring System is a set of three temperature and humidity sensors that can be used to remotely monitor indoor or outdoor locations. Included in the box are three sensors along with one internet access point with ethernet cable and power brick. The myaccurite app needed to view the sensor readings is available for free for iOS and Android.

The three sensors are water resistant and can be placed outdoors as well as indoors. Powered by 2 AA batteries, the sensors transmit weather data wirelessly up to 330 feet (100 meters), sending readings every 16 seconds. To be clear, you don’t physically connect these sensors–they transmit their weather data wirelessly. The sensors can be mounted using the included hanger, or they can be tethered by looping a string or small rope through the sensor loop.

AcuRite Temperature and Humidity Monitoring System: Access Point

The Internet Access point connects to your home’s Ethernet network via the included Ethernet cable. Note that the access point does not support 802.11 and make sure DHCP is enabled on your router. While three temperature and humidity sensors come with the access point, the access point supports up to seven compatible AcuRite sensors simultaneously (additional sensors sold separately). The access point works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for audible readings as well as via the MyAcurite App. The access point can also be powered by three AA batteries (not included) to continue data logging during AC power outages.

AcuRite Temperature and Humidity Monitoring System: MyAcuRite App

The MyAcuRite App (screenshot shows the app on iOS) shows temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure data for each of the paired sensors as well as historical and forecast information. Note that the app is the only way to read the weather data–there is no included physical display. Email and phone alerts can be created so you will be contacted based on your preset weather targets. All in all, I like the peace of mind when using these sensors to monitor weather conditions. The sensors are easy to set up and install inside or outside and the app provides clear and useful information when I need it. I also like knowing I can expand this system when I need to by adding more sensors.
