The SKIL PWRCore 12 Cordless Drill and Oscillating Multitool Kit comes with a drill/driver, oscillating multitool, battery, charger, accessories, and manuals. The kit comes with one 12V 2.0 Ah lithium battery that works with both the drill and the multitool. It takes the charger about an hour to fully charge a depleted battery. Lights on the charger indicate charging status or battery error/defect.
The cordless 12V drill is compact in size and feels like a quality product. It comes with a 1/2 inch keyless chuck with a 1/4 inch hex built-in head for holding screw bits. One drill bit comes included with the drill. There is a selector for changing the rotation direction (forward and reverse) as well as a center lock position. The soft grip allows for long work periods without fatigue.
The drill is variable speed, with two gear speeds, 0-450 RPM and 0-1700 RPM, and 17 torque settings to adjust the torque. There is an extra clutch setting (the “drill” position) which locks the clutch for heavy-duty drilling and driving work.
The base of the drill has a removable belt clip. There is also an LED worklight to help in low-light situations. The LED light stays on about 10 seconds after you release the drill trigger, which is very helpful. The light also flashes if the drill becomes overloaded (rapid flash) or almost out of battery (slow flash). Finally, the base also has a holder slot for one drill bit.
The multitool has an on/off switch, a clamping lever to attach/remove the accessories, a halo light, and a variable-speed dial. The tool comes with two accessories. The sanding base plate comes with a stack of velcro pieces of sandpaper, which is useful for bare/painted wood, plaster, etc. The bi-metal plunge-cut blade is used to made cuts in wood, plastic, drywall, and soft metals. Though my kit only came with two accessories, there are additional accessories available, including a wood plunge-cut blade, a flush circular blade, a rigid scraper blade, and a carbide grout-removal blade.
Overall, the build quality on both of the tools in the SKIL PWRCore 12 Cordless Drill and Oscillating Multitool Kit is very solid–I expect these tools to last a very long time and they will come in handy for lots of projects around the house.
