Marmot Slate Weekender Bag: Front

The Marmot Slate Weekender Bag is a backpack-style bag with plenty of room for your laptop and other items as well as a small compartment for a change or two of clothes. The exterior is water resistant and the 2.8 pound bag holds a volume of 28 liters and has dimensions of about 12.8 x 7.5 x 20.9 inches. In addition to being able to carry this bag as a backpack, the bag also has padded carry handles on the top and side.

The bag’s laptop compartment is meant for your laptop, papers, and accessories. The front side of the laptop compartment has one zippered pocket and multiple open pockets for pens, cards, and cables. One of the pockets that runs across the bottom of the bag has a mesh lining.

The back of the main compartment has a padded laptop compartment bag large enough for most 15" laptops. There is also a smaller pocket in front of the laptop pocket that just fits a third generation 12.9" iPad Pro with Smart Keyboard Folio.

On the right side of the bag is a water bottle pocket that snaps closed when not in use. Just as an example, this pocket held my 20-ounce stainless steel water bottle just fine. The pocket is partially mesh enclosed for breathability.

Marmot Slate Weekender Bag: Front Compartment

The front compartment is designed to hold a change or two of clothes. The compartment is three inches deep and has compression straps to help keep your clothes neat.

The only improvement is that it would have been nice if the bag had a luggage/trolley strap for slipping over wheeled luggage handles. However, all in all this is a comfortable bag that can get you through a day or weekend trip if you mainly just need your laptop, accessories, some clothes, and a water bottle. The backpack straps are comfortable and the two extra padded carry handles help give carrying options and make it easier to lift into an airplane cargo hold.
