Where are the heroes?

This year marks the 300th birthday for a great American Hero, Benjamin Franklin, who was born January 17, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Considering his life and accomplishments, he seems to me to be a template towards which we all can aspire. Ben was one of the Founders of the United States, was a prominent political figure, statesman, newspaper editor, printer, merchant, diplomat, writer, philanthropist, and scientist.

Physics Today has a nice article about Ben and his work with lightning rods. The also have an article about Ben's research into oil and water.

Birthday events will be taking place all across the country.

So get to work and raise a glass to Ben.
